Trashcars

In 2012 the Trash Investigation Series returned with Trashcars and the challenge was to create installations, products or objects from discarded cars or car parts. The event took place from 2nd to 4th October at the center for creation Fabra i Coats in Barcelona and was part of the BCN Design Festival.

Trashcars had the pleasure to receive the french architects from Pimpilimpausa that turned a discarded car into a funky green space, the local studio Bel&Bel with their cool fridge made entirely out of Seat 1500 car parts, while the designers Cristian Montesinos and Guillem Ferran from Barcelona teamed up in order to discover a 6th R, Relove, and investigate the domestication of elements that typically not found in homes. Finaly, Starter from Sabadell turned a whole car into a robot/DJ booth and spiced the closing night with a DJ and visual performance.

We had a great response and interest, with direct media coverage from online magazines MAKA BCN, Diario Design and Sin Freno, as well as, thousands of shares and likes on the social media (Facebook, Instagram and Twitter) and more than 150 visitors present during the whole event. The event was sponsored by Ecologica, Resa, Casalbor and Rotxa and supported by Barcelona pel Medi Ambient.
