Make Hawaii lamp
Dates to be announced
Join me for a creative session at our Centre for Trash Investigation, TransfoLAB BCN. In a professional workshop you will have the chance to create your own Hawaii lamp, an original piece designed by me.
We will start with a tour of the centre and a brief introduction to creation with transformation and reuse. You will then make your own personalised Hawaii lamp from pieces of reclaimed bicycles. I will walk you though the whole process and support you during the creation.
You will not only have the chance to be a maker for a day, but will also take home a designer object to decorate your house.
One-off 2 hours preparatory workshop that will walk you through all the tools and machines in The Laboratory and show you how to use them properly. Mandatory for all members that will work in The Laboratory.
You will spend 6 hours in our woodworking workshop.
In the beginning of the course you will learn about the different types of wood and select the wood you will work with from our Material Library. Then you will learn how to prepare and connect the wood with a biscuit joiner, draw your own design and produce your design using jigsaw, table saw and miter saw. You will then smoothen the surface using a planer and an orbital sander. You will finish by applying natural protection waxes and signing your board with a pyrography pen. The experienced team will be there with you throughout the course to help and guide you through the process.
At the end of the course you will have produced your own wooden chopping board from reclaimed wood, ideal for a gift or for making your friends jealous on a dinner night.
During this 4 hours introductory course you can learn the basics of welding and working with different tools and machines used in metalworking. This course is ideal for absolute beginners.
The course will start with an intro to the main tools used in metalworking, as well as a brief explanation on the piece that you will be producing – wall hanger. Then you will be able to select your piece of metal to work with from our Material Library.
You will use metal grinder, welding machine, different clamps and other tools needed for producing your own wall hanger. You will finish by varnishing your product. At the end of the course you will have produced your own wall hanger from upcycled metal, ideal for a gift or for decorating your house.
