Revalue your waste - Right to repair
General Call for Grants for District and City Projects, Activities and Services for the Year 2025
At TransfoLAB BCN, we organized a series of activities focused on repair as part of the third edition of the project Revalue Your Waste, under the slogan “Right to Repair.” The project began in mid-September and concluded during the last week of November, coinciding with the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR). Over these three months, citizens had the opportunity to participate free of charge in the proposed repair sessions. The activities ended on November 27 with the sixth edition of our TrashTalks, an event featuring talks on projects related to repair.
During the repair sessions, registered participants had access to TransfoLAB BCN’s own resources (workshop facilities and shared tools), as well as technical and creative support from our instructors and partner organizations. Each session lasted three hours and was designed to enable participants to repair different types of items (clothing, household appliances, bicycles, and small furniture). We offered a total of 10 repair sessions: 4 furniture and general object repair sessions led by our in-house technical team, 2 clothing repair sessions (delivered by Al son de mi voz trenzar and Entre mujeres – sewing workshop), 2 household appliance and electronic device repair sessions (one led by Restarters BCN and one by our technical team), 2 bicycle repair sessions (led by Acxené Rangel from En bicis sense edat). As a result, 70 people participated, accounting for 93 total attendances, and were able to carry out repairs free of charge. In total, 73 items were restored.
The campaign concluded on November 27, 2026, as part of the European Week for Waste Reduction (EWWR), with the sixth edition of TrashTalks. TrashTalks is conceived as an evening event featuring talks and video screenings focused on sustainable manufacturing, the circular economy, and entrepreneurship. In this edition, we joined the proposal of the Catalan Waste Agency with a special film forum. We screened a documentary produced by ARC on the life cycle of household appliances, followed by a discussion with two invited speakers: Mercedes Rodríguez from the Ateneu de Fabricació de Ciutat Meridiana, and Miquel Caballé, representing Restarters BCN. They shared their experience and vision regarding repair, the importance of extending the useful life of objects, and the value this brings to the community.
