We are ArquiLab, an architecture laboratory designed to help children discover the city, space and design through play. We believe that architecture is not just for adults: it is an incredible tool for thinking, creating and transforming the world around us, and one that can be learned by building with our own hands. What are we going to build? Throughout the term, we will work on different design and construction challenges: from building models of houses and buildings to creating temporary structures with recycled materials that encourage us to think about what we want the city we live in to be like. Each session introduces a new tool, technique or question to help us continue imagining architecture. Arquininos is an architecture laboratory for children and young people that is part of ArquiLab, a project by Associació Transita dedicated to bringing architecture and urban design closer to children through play and experimentation. Born in Buenos Aires in 2016 and based in Barcelona for several years, the project offers workshops, activities and educational materials where participants explore the city, build models and think critically and creatively about the spaces they inhabit. Coordinated by a team of architects, psychologists and art mediators, Arquininos aims to make architecture a tool for learning, expression and transformation for new generations.
